Skate Hats

June 25th, 2009 by gw

Hi and welcome to my site, just to note if you are looking for tons of great skate hats click here.  Ive been collecting hats and caps for years now. It started off small then grew kinda out of control. I now own about 150. What can I say …I love em!. By far skater hats are my favourite and make up the majority of my collection. Im pretty obsessed with skate clothing and fashion in general. Skate shoes are another big passion of mine, but that’s another obsession all togeather. Back to lids for a minute. Im a pretty big fan of them so I decided to create an entire website about nothing but hats. DC make my favourite for sure. Im more of a fan of the clean simple look, this is the latest hat Ive picked up. The DC converge fitted cap. I really love the huge, bold logo on the front and clean look and style to it. I also just got a sick new DVS hat.

Speaking of DVS for the third consecutive year, they will be putting on the CPH pro contest in the Scandinavian city of Copenhagen, Denmark June 27,28 and the 29th I believe, which will take place at the CPH skatepark. In the honor of its third contest DVS shoes created a limited series of CPH Rico shoes. The shoe will be available for the period of the contest, in five skateshops, in Copenhagen

Etnies Skateboarding Hats

Another favourite of mine is Etnies. Their “Drop out” flex cap is one of my all time favourite hats that I own. It’s made from Acrylic and wool blend, has a killer logo on the front with some plaid background and a small Etnies logo on the back. For the few of you out there who don’t know about this company, they are an American skate shoe company based out of Lake Forest, California. Etnies works with the company Sole Technology who’s primary goal is to study shoes and the foot and basically come up with some mind blowing technology for your feet while skating. Very cool stuff indeed!. They specialize in shoes and clothing and of course hats intended for skating, snowboarding, BMX and a few other extreme sports.
The company was born in France in 1986, with for original name “Ethnics”, derived from the “ethnic” word and referring to the subculture of the skateboard of the time. The name was changed into “Etnies” following legal events. This company tries to use the least toxic materials possible for its manufacturing, in particular with regard to the adhesives, which can be really bad stuff.

Etnies is regarded as one of the top skate companies out there today. It has a few other brands under it including ES and Emerica, and they are very targeted on shoes for skating, Besides stuff for men they have now broadened their horizons to include products for children and even a line of shoes for girls (Etnies Girl).

They sponsor many athletes in extreme sports like skateboarding, snowboarding, surfing,BMX and Motocross. Among them being skateboarding protege “Ryan Sheckler” who turned pro at a very young age.

Well enuff about the company stuff lets talk a bit more about the hats (my favourite)

Last Christmas I got their “Monster” flex cap and it’s pretty cool. It features that creepy vampire guy from “Nosferatu” that old school black and white movie. Except he’s in color…actually tons of color! Green and purple mostly. It’s a funky skateboarding hat for sure. I’ve included a little picture here so you can see what I’m talking about.

My Obsession With Skate Hats

June 22nd, 2009 by gw

Skateboarding hats have been an odd little obsession of mine over the past few years. Pretty much any skate clothing is. It seems like every day more and more skate hats hit the stores for me to choose from. DC, Adio, Etnies all make some pretty cool lids! I actually just picked up a really nice DC camouflage hat the other day. Good stuff. So I created this blog to help keep up to date on what’s new and coming out. I know other people out there have the same crazy obsession that I do so I figured this would be a great way to help out other hat freaks out there. Ive been into skateboarding for like 20 years now and it’s seem some pretty big changes. I’d say the fashion is deffintly top of the list. There’s so much new stuff coming out all the time that it can be hard to even keep up!

Not that I’m complaining. Heck I remember back in the early 90’s when skateboarding almost died out it was impossible to find any skate apparel in my home town. Really slim pickings for sure. Thanks to the growth and second coming of skateboarding and we cant forget the Internets, there’s more selection then I know what to do with. This is a good thing. For people like me at least. DC make my favourite hats for sure but Im also really into some of what Adio has put out lately. Also some of the skate beanies out are pretty sweet.

Speaking of DC I was just recently checking out the launch of their new project DC skateboarding TV.  I wish cool stuff like this had been around when I was a kid.  The goal of the site is to provide skateboarders get easy access to whatever they are looking for that’s skate related.  Like products, news, skate videos. There is also going to be a trick tips section. I’m thrilled!

Speaking of DC I picked up two of their skate hats the other day. Love em both. The first is the almost heard 210 flex cap with embroidered logo on the front and a smaller one on back. Very clean style.

The second is the “Stab” flex cap…similar to the first except its loaded with insane colors like blue pink and yellow.
